Traian Băsescu: Opposition can win from Firea-Dragnea conflict

People's Movement Party (PMP) senator Traian Băsescu stated on Friday in Neptun that the opposition could benefit from the current conflict within the Social Democratic Party (PSD), between Chairman Liviu Dragnea and Bucharest General Mayor Gabriela Firea, if "it is smart" and if now tables a new censure motion against Dăncilă Government.

"I can say for sure who will lose, it is the country who will lose from this conflict, but maybe the opposition will win, if it is smart to go for the censure motion now, because it has all the reasons to do so. It has the swine fever, badly managed by the Government, it has the 10 August anti-government protests and it has major disparities within the Social Democratic Party (PSD). What more do one needs to table a censure motion?" Băsescu replied when asked by journalists who will win the conflict between Dragnea and Firea.

Former President Traian Băsescu criticizes the other opposition parties, PNL and USR, for not wanting to support PMP in its attempt to initiate a censure motion against the Dăncilă Government.

Traian Băsescu: "The opposition has not agreed, at least until now, to capitalize on this extremely good moment, with three elements that everyone sees: the swine fever, the anti-government protests of August 10 and the major differences inside the PSD. They wait, they are considering things (...) and they lose the right moment”.

Traian Băsescu, former President of Romania and former PMP leader, attended, on Friday, the PMP’s youth summer school in Neptun, Black Sea resort.
