President Traian Băsescu denied he graduated a masters or PhD.

He responded thus to the statement released by the Interim Minister of Education, Liviu Pop, who said the president would have passed a master degree in his resume.

Băsescu said in a press conference that he attended an advanced course in management and he denied that he completed a master course or PhD.

He was responding to the statement released by the Interim Minister of Education Liviu Pop, who said the president had a past master in the CV.

Băsescu said in a press conference that he followed an advanced course of management of the Academy Norwegian in shipping industry, as a scholar of the State.

President Traian Băsescu also said that he did not enter politics before being an excellent professional and achieving the professional peak of the career.

Traian Băsescu said that people who fail first in profession should give up politics.

"I invite all those who failed the profession and decorate their career with all sorts of stolen degrees to quit politics," said Traian Băsescu.

The interim Minister for Education, Liviu Pop, said in front of the ANI center that if all politicians CVs are checked, maybe President Traian Băsescu’s master degree from Norway should be also checked.

"You should ask also Traian Băsescu, when he was in Norway and was a deputy master, whether he plagiarized his master's thesis," said Liviu Pop.
