Traian Băsescu will be able to resume his duties as President of Romania after CCR’s decision on the referendum will be published in the Official Gazette.

Romanian Constitutional Court's decision on the referendum for dismissal of suspended President Traian Băsescu was read Monday night within the plenum of Parliament.

Afterwards, the CCR raport was sent to publication in the Official Gazette.

After that will appear in the Official Gazette, Băsescu will be able to resume his duties as President of Romania.

CCR’s decision was read within the plenum by Judge Stefan Minea.

At the meeting came just four of the nine judges of the Court, namely Augustin Zegrean, Petre Lăzăroiu, Iulia Motoc and Ștefan Minea.

The meeting started at 17.10 with a delay of over two hours.

Chairman Valeriu Zgonea announced that 238 parliamentarians are present, given that the working quorum is 216 parliamentarians.

The Constitutional Court adjudicated on 21st august the referendum issue, after returning to the deadlines stated above - September 12th and 31st august.

During this period, controversies have focused on electoral lists.

Constitutional Court found in its judgment on 21st august that the procedure of organizing the referendum on July 29th was respected, that it did not meet the quorum requirement for the election to be valid and noted that at the publication date of the decision in the Official Gazette Traian Băsescu resumes his duties.

CCR decision was taken by the majority provided by law, respectively by a vote of two-thirds of the nine judges.

Traian Băsescu was suspended from the post of president of Romania on July the 6th following a decision by parliament plenary.

The referendum for dismissal of suspended President Traian Băsescu took place on 29th July.

The turnout was, according to BEC of 46.24 percent.

For Băsescu's dismissal voted 87.52 percent and 11.15 percent “against”. 1.32 percent was the percentage of invalid votes.

8,459,052 of them voted. 7,403,836 people voted "yes" for the dismissal of President Traian Băsescu and 943,375 "no".
