The Supreme Court "will attack the new regulations on service pensions"

The United Sections of the High Court of Cassation and Justice unanimously decided to refer the Constitutional Court to the draft laws regarding the reduction of magistrates' pensions and the increase of the retirement age in the system, according to some judicial sources.

The Superior Council of the Magistracy also conveyed that the amendment of the law on service pensions has irremediable consequences on the independence of the judiciary. The Council maintains that it was not requested a real opinion regarding the form adopted in the Parliament of the draft law.

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu declared that, in the event that the Constitutional Court notifies elements of unconstitutionality in the pension law, there will be an extraordinary session of the Parliament.
