The security situation in Israel and the Gaza Strip was analyzed by phone, on Saturday, by the Romanian Foreign Minister, Luminita Odobescu, and her Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani.

The two stressed the need for joint efforts to ensure the provision of humanitarian support to the population of the Gaza Strip, as well as the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages in the enclave.

Qatar is one of the countries with a mediator role in the hostage crisis taken by Hamas.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Luminita Odobescu expressed appreciation for Qatar's diplomatic efforts to improve the humanitarian situation and highlighted the humanitarian support that Romania decided to send.
