The rumors of military mobilization in the Republic of Moldova are false

The authorities in Chisinau claim that the rumors launched by Russian propaganda regarding the decree of military mobilization in the Republic of Moldova are false.

Mobilization can only be declared in a state of siege or war, and the Republic of Moldova is not in any of these situations, say the representatives of the Moldovan Ministry of Defense. Mihaela Iorgu reports from Radio Chisinau:

Reporter: The information spread by some sources in the Russian Federation, such as that President Maia Sandu is preparing to announce military mobilization in the Republic of Moldova, is false, the Ministry of Defense in Chisinau announces.

The Ministry explained in a press release that, according to Moldovan legislation, partial or general mobilization can be announced with the establishment of a state of siege or war by the parliament, at the proposal of the Supreme Defense Council or by the president of the Republic of Moldova, with the approval of the legislature.

In the Republic of Moldova there is no state of siege and there are no prerequisites for declaring mobilization, the Ministry also states, urging the population to get information only from credible sources.

We remind you that a new scenario set up by Russian propagandists appeared on Telegram, as if the Republic of Moldova is preparing to declare a general mobilization among its citizens. The script was published by WarGonzo, a Telegram account that follows military developments in Ukraine and has more than 1.2 million followers.

One of those working on the project is Russian journalist Semion Pegov, a propagandist with connections to Russian special services and who has been accused in the past of false reporting or staging.
