RADIO ROMANIA NEWS - The representatives of the Government and those of the Education unions will resume, today, the negotiations on the topic of raising salaries in education from January 1. The trade unionists claim that this increase could be 20 percent.

After today's discussion at the Ministry of Education, there will be consultations with the Ministries of Labor and Finance, said Marius Nistor, the president of the Federation of Trade Unions in Education "Spiru Haret": "We are going to clarify at the moment, because it is also a collaboration with Ministry of Finance. It cannot be just something that is negotiated at the level of the Ministry of Education and at the level of the Ministry of Labour. In the situation where we are not going to get along with the Government, we will quickly communicate which forms of protest we will resort to. At the moment we are in full negotiation, which will establish very clearly what happens from January 1."

Marius Nistor did not rule out the possibility of a new strike in education, if the trade unionists find that they cannot reach an agreement with the Government. In June, the general strike that had blocked the education system was suspended after the unions obtained the promise that from January 1, next year, all employees in the system will receive 50% of the difference between the salaries in payment and those in the new scale, and the salary the debutante teacher will equal the average one in the economy.
