The Minister of Education, Ligia Deca, stated today that she is confident there will not be a general strike in education.
She stated that there is a need to find solutions, and the institution she leads supports salary increases in the system.
However, the education unions started collecting signatures in order to trigger a general strike, after their requests remained unresolved and the Executive announced its intention to cap salaries in the public system.
The representatives of the education employees say that they will picket the Government headquarters again on Tuesday and Wednesday, and on May 10 they will organize a protest march, where more than 15.000 people are expected.
