The Ice Hotel tradition is being resumed at Balea Lake

Articol de Carmen Vulcan, Sibiu, 20 Noiembrie 2022, 21:39

At Balea Lake, in the Fagaras Mountains, at over 2.000 meters above sea level, the Ice Hotel tradition resumes, after a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

For the 16th season in which this unique objective will be set up in Romania, the theme will be "Europe", so the spaces of the future hotel will be decorated in such a way as to refer to places, symbols or important landmarks from the great capitals of the continent.

It is already true winter at Balea Lake - today at noon the snow layer measured 11 centimeters, but the construction of the hotel will only begin when the thickness of the ice formed on Balea Lake exceeds 20 centimeters.

The organizers hope that the first guests can be received before Christmas. More than 500 reservations have already been made for the entire season, and those interested are mostly foreign tourists, mainly from England, but also from other European countries, and from the Middle East.

There are also several dozen reservations from Romania, say the administrators, who after the holidays intend to build an ice church on the edge of Balea Lake.
