The government wants to postpone by one year the closure of the energy groups operating on lignite from Rovinari and Turceni within the Oltenia Energy Complex.
On the website of the Ministry of Energy, there is a draft decision in this regard under public debate, motivated by the energy crisis affecting the entire European Union, as a result of the elimination of some sources of supply from the Russian Federation.
According to the commitments contained in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, Romania should have closed by the end of this year a total electricity production capacity based on coal and lignite of almost 2.400 MW, but the energy crisis situation allows the executive to postpone this process for a while.
