The first Energy Exploration Center in Europe was inaugurated at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest and includes a simulator of a control room for a small modular reactor.
The collaboration in this field between Romania and the USA once again demonstrates the strong relations consolidated by the Strategic Partnership between the two countries, said Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca.
Nicolae Ciuca: We have over 26 years of experience in safe operation and over 50 years of activity of the independent regulator National Commission for the Control of Nuclear Activities; we are the only country in the region that can assume this leading role at European level. The activity of the New Scale Energy Exploration Center within the Polytechnic University of Bucharest will constitute yet another decisive stage that will contribute to the positioning of Romania in an area of international relevance for what nuclear energy means.
Romania benefits from the support of the United States for the inclusion in the national energy system of small modular reactors, the first of this type to be built in Doicesti.
