The Black Sea region plays an important role for NATO, and Romania is a very close partner of the United States of America, reaffirmed the US ambassador to Bucharest, Kathleen Kavalec.
In an interview for Radio Targu Mures, she claimed that Romania, in the immediate vicinity of the conflict in Ukraine, faced problems such as the Ukrainian refugee crisis and the maritime transport of grain arriving in Romanian ports.
Kathleen Kavalec: In this context, I think security and defense relations have become even closer. We have tripled the number of American troops present in Romania, so there are now over 3.000 American troops here, and we are working closely with our Romanian partners on defense and deterrence to guard every bit of NATO territory.
The US ambassador visited Targu Mures to participate in the celebration of 12 years since the opening of the American Corner information and resource center, as a section of the Mures County Library.
