State institutions "remained in service"

In his first official appearance since the returning to Cotroceni, President Traian Basescu said that "state institutions remained standing, despite the attacks from July 3rd to 6th", when the first three people in the state, the President of the Senate, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, the president of Romania to whom was added also the Ombudsman, were replaced by the Social Liberal Union.

"Restoring the constitutional state in Romania, as long as it has been done before, but will be fully done, it was done because the state institutions remained standing despite the attacks from July 3 to 6".

"In July, from 3-6 July, a parliamentary majority considered that the constitutional state can be shattered.

"The parliamentary majority which did not result in elections seriously violated the Copenhagen criteria, especially the political criteria," said Traian Basescu.

President Traian Basescu asked the Romanian ambassador accredited abroad to "reopen the dialogue" of our country with the Member States and European institutions.
He told the Romanian ambassadors that the message they must take is that state institutions - including the Constitutional Court, DNA, the General Prosecutor and the information service - remained in service after the political situation from July and until now.

According to President Traian Basescu, "another test" of the fact that state institutions remain vertical in front of the "political anger" in June is that the interior ministry "has not gone so far as to falsify figures lists."

"Sure, another prove is that the interior ministry has not gone so far as to falsify figures in lists and it is another evidence that state institutions remained vertical regardless of who politically sat above them," said the President.

Romania's foreign policy agenda, "unchanged"

The president said that the political events from July have not changed Romania's foreign policy agenda.

"The direction is west, those who can guarantee us what we aim - raising the living standards is ensured by EU and the security is guaranteed along with our NATO partners," said Traian Basescu.

In the President's speech was recalled also the partnership with the U.S.

"The U.S. is our primary ally within NATO, but also in the civilized world. This is the most complex partnership that we have. Once established, in 2011, this partnership, the U.S. has acted particularly in the area that was a goal for us, namely the economic zone ", said the president.

Traian Basescu stated that a priority of the conditions of entry into the Euro area should be done.

"Europe has no chance of survival if the integration process is accelerated. We need fiscal, economic, political integration. As at the right moment we were able to be part of the tax treaty, so Romania has to find the formula to participate in this process of integration of the banking system.

"Hence results a very important action that we must scroll: to make a priority from the conditions of entry into the Euro area. We will not withstand in a transient position forever. It becomes a priority to achieve the requirements to enter in the euro area, "said Traian Basescu.
