Wednesday, the government supplemented the budgets of six ministries, from the Reserve Fund.

Almost half of the amount is for paying debts to transport companies.

Ministries of Transport, Environment, Administration and Interior, Regional Development, Defence and Finance will receive 1,220,000,000 lei from the Reserve Fund.

According to spokesperson Ioana Muntean almost half of the sum will be used to pay transport arrears.

Ioana Muntean stated the measure would have an impact on the private environment.

Thus, according to the government’s spokesperson ‘550 million lei will go to the Ministry of Transport to pay debts older than 90 days, in some cases older than one year, to road transport operators.'

Ioana Muntean mentioned that 64,016,000 lei will go to transport operators who offered services to pensioners, students and pupils that benefitted from public transport subsidies.

The Ministry of Transport received money for subway repairs, and also rehabilitating and maintaining road and railroad infrastructure.

The 68 million lei for the Ministry of Environment will be used to pay the debts incurred from rehabilitating the water supply and the sewer system.

The 71 million lei for Regional Development are intended to pay state bonuses for rehabilitating buildings and supplement the National Housing Agency programme with 34 million lei.

The Administration and Interior Ministry will receive a budget supplement of 187 million to pay some debts.
