Romanian industry is automated at a rate of 20% and in the next 5 years, it will reach 50%, say representatives of research and development companies in the field of robotics, present today in a debate on the subject.

High demand for automation is based on the need to streamline production and reduce losses, says the representative of such a company, Daniel Sirman.

According to him, automation and robotics do not lead to job losses, but rather come exactly because of lack of workforce in certain areas of Romania:

Daniel Sirman:"Especially in the western part of the country, unfortunately, the workforce is completely missing. It was just yesterday that I had a conversation with a client who told me that somewhere in the Cluj area, a factory hired 200 or 300 people from Asia. Why? Lack of workforce. When you robotize a production line, this does not mean that you are taking somebody’s job. That person can enroll for a conversion course or take a job that will lead to a much more comfortable life".
