Delegation of Romanian Government led by Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă is today in Strasbourg, France, to present the Council of the European Union, on the occasion of European Parliament’s plenary sitting, the Agenda, priorities and working program of Romanian EU Council Presidency (January-July 2019).

Agenda in Strasbourg includes meetings of Romanian Governmental Delegation with European Parliament President Antonio Tajani, with the leader of Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament, Udo Bullmann, as well as with representatives of the S&D Group and with other European Parliament leaders.

RRA Special Envoy to Strasbourg, Andrei Șerban: "Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă and her Cabinet will discuss with MEPs, on Monday and Tuesday in Strasbourg, priorities of the Romanian Presidency of the EU Council.

Brexit is a very important file Romania will have to manage, and the Romanian Prime Minister has stated several times that Romania is interested in protecting the social rights of its citizens who work in the UK, after UK’s withdrawal from the EU.

Future EU budget is another delicate dossier for Romania, and Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă has suggested that steps forward should be taken in order to set up this future budget, because it has to finance the Common European common policies such as the Agricultural and the Cohesion policies.

Migration is another very important dossier in the European space. Viorica Dăncilă stressed that a consensus on asylum must be reached between the EU Member States.

Prime Minister of Romania will also participate, alongside senior European officials and Members of the Romanian Cabinet, in the opening of the photo exhibition “Traditions and landscapes in Romania”, organized on the occasion of the start of the Romanian Presidency of the EU Council.

Governmental delegation led by Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă includes Minister of European Funds, Rovana Plumb, Minister of Internal Affairs, Carmen Dan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Teodor Meleșcanu, Minister-Delegate for European Affairs, George Ciamba, Minister of Public Finance, Eugen Teodorovici, Minister of Labor and Social Justice, Marius Constantin Budai.

According to European Parliament plenary sitting Agenda, MEPs will debate on Wednesday UK's withdrawal from the EU, but also a legislative file on autonomous vehicles. Cars without a driver will enter the European market next year. MEPs will have sufficient funding to support the sector and adequate safety and accountability rules.

Also on Wednesday, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez will deliver a speech on the Future of Europe.

On Thursday, MEPs are to vote for new rules that will restrict access to funds for Member States that do not respect the rule of law and have problems with independence of the judiciary and the fight against corruption".
