The modernization process of the Romanian Air Force will continue with the purchase of the latest generation F35 aircraft, the members of the Supreme Council for National Defense decided in today's meeting at the Cotroceni Palace.

In the context of maintaining security in the Black Sea region, the participants in the discussion determined that the firm support of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova contributes essentially to strengthening Romania's security.

Romania continues to act firmly, unitedly and effectively with its allies and partners in promoting security and stability in the Black Sea region, according to the press release of the Presidential Administration, sent after the meeting at the Cotroceni Palace.

The Council members established in today's meeting that the fundamental benchmark for action remains that of ensuring national security and decided, at the same time, that Romania must continue to ensure the necessary support for vulnerable partners in the region.

It is primarily about the Republic of Moldova, which, after Ukraine, is the most exposed to Russian aggression and pressure, being the target of hybrid destabilizing actions of an unprecedented intensity and complexity.

At the same time, during the meeting, the development of Romania's military aviation was analyzed, and the members of the Council approved the concept of achieving the operational capability of air defense with fifth generation multi-role aircraft, so the modernization process of the military air forces will continue through the purchase of state-of-the-art F-35 aircraft.

These aircraft are equipped with a wide range of advanced sensors and have a real management capability of the operational picture of the battlefield.
