President Klaus Iohannis had a dialogue with his counterpart from the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, in which context he reiterated Romania's support for the European path of the neighboring country.
"Today I had a telephone discussion with President Maia Sandu on the most important European issues, with an emphasis on the preparation of the decisions regarding the Republic of Moldova at the European Council this week. Romania firmly supports the opening of the accession negotiations of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union", wrote the head of state on the X platform (formerly Twitter).
President Klaus Iohannis will participate, from Wednesday to Friday (December 13-15), in Brussels, at the European Union - Western Balkans Summit and at the European Council, in which context he will support the taking of decisions regarding the opening of EU accession negotiations with Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova.
