Report on the activity of health units in Romania

53 thousand public or private sanitary units operated last year in the cities of the country, while in villages the number was much lower, of 12 thousand, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics. According to the same sources, most of them, over 16 thousand, were independent dental offices, and over 10 thousand belong to family doctors.
The balance sheet prepared by the INS (National Institute of Statistics) also shows that out of the total number of doctors, about one fifth were family members, and two thirds of them worked in cities. Last year, in villages, a family doctor cared for 10 times more inhabitants than a city doctor, and a dentist 7 times more.
