Redundancies start to Oltchim Factory

A thousand employees of Olthim Factory will be fired through the restructuring plan.

For several days, the Oltchim employees are protesting because of salary arrears, but also beause of the fear restructuring.

Law Firm chosen to manage the insolvency company announced that redundancy notices will be served starting next week.

Oltchim Syndicate argues, however, that the measure would be illegal.

The redundancy measure among the factory employees was taken from the necessity of some savings imposed by Oltchim donors, but also by business partners, said the judiciary administrator, George Piperea.

Monthly, must occur savings of two million euros, he also said.

Oltchim union leader, Mihai Diculoiu, says he was not notified of this redundancies measure and threatens with protests including in Bucharest.

"From the point of view of the Oltchim union, they cannot make this decision on collective redundancies, as long as they do not have the reorganization plan approved by the general meeting of creditors and the unilateral declaration is in contradiction with Vosganian minister, who said that by June Oltchim should be kept in operation, and starting June to be privatized in insolvency, "says Mihai Diculoiu.

Redundancies, "obligations arising from the situation of society"

Oltchim receiver contradicts him, because, says George Piperea, discussions on redundancies take place for three weeks.

"Anyone can understand the desperate situation of these people, but only through these measures can be provided a chance of survival of this company.

"On the other hand, it is not us who take these steps, but there are obligations arising from legal and economic situation of the company, who was brought in this situation in previous period," said George Piperea.

Valcea factory employees have received some money Friday, following that by the middle of next month to receive their salaries and the rest coming from funds obtained from CEA Valcea receivers.
