Record seizure of pistols

RADIO ROMANIA NEWS: A new record capture was made this week by the border police; almost 3.000 revolver pistols were discovered at the border, in Tulcea.

The weapons were hidden in a truck, driven by a Ukrainian citizen, loaded with furniture and food, Interior Minister Lucian Bode said on Thursday.

Lucian Bode: Based on a risk analysis, the border police, together with the customs workers, found the cargo compartment of the means of transport and carried out a thorough check-up of it. Following the verifications, behind the declared goods - respectively, furniture, mattresses and food products -, 143 boxes containing 2.850 revolver pistols were discovered, hidden using the "lid method". The weapons were immediately confiscated.

I remind you that, last week, organized crime officers and the Border Police made the largest seizure of narcotics in the history of Romania, almost a ton and a half of heroin being found in a container in the Port of Constanta.

In this case, according to the judicial authorities, 10 people from Belgium, the Netherlands and Romania have already been arrested.

Among them is the leader of the network, which specialized in bringing large quantities of heroin to Europe.
