President of Romania supports election of mayors in two rounds
Head of State said that a reasonable approach would be to commit Government's responsibility for such a legislative change, if this cannot be done in Parliament.

President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, wishes election of mayors in two rounds at local elections scheduled for May 2020.
Prior to opening of the General Assembly of the Romanian Association of Municipalities, Head of State said that a reasonable approach would be to commit Government's responsibility for such a legislative change, if this cannot be done in Parliament.
"The messages I have for mayors of municipalities are general, which I will give to the other mayors, for example, that I wish local elections to take place in two rounds, or that I very much wish for a real partnership between central administration, through the Government, and the local administration, so that all Romanians get a chance to live in well-developed places", said President Klaus Iohannis.
