The soldiers, firefighters, doctors, assistants and volunteers who participated in the international humanitarian mission in Turkey, after the devastating earthquakes that hit the country, were decorated by President Klaus Iohannis, in a ceremony that took place at the Cotroceni Palace. The head of state appreciated the results of the mission and emphasized that the professionalism of the Romanian rescuers is internationally recognized.

"You are true models of solidarity, altruism and empathy and that is why I convey to you, on behalf of all Romanians, our full appreciation and respect for your courage and devotion, proven in every activity you participate in, as well as for all the support you give citizens in the most difficult moments. Romanians feel safe, because you are close to them", declared President Klaus Iohannis.

The coordinator of Romanian rescuers team in Turkey, Colonel Bogdan Vladutoiu, recalled that Romania was among the first European countries that helped to search for survivors.

"We are proud to be part of those who always say "present", when it is needed, when courage and devotion become necessary components of human behavior, put at the service of those who are hard tested by life and need help", explained Bogdan Vladutoiu.
