President extends mandate of current Chief of Defense
Head of State rejected proposals of Defense Minister Gabriel Leş to appoint another Chief of Defense.

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis has said on Friday, after the meeting of the Supreme Council of National Defense (CSAT) that he has signed a decree that extends the mandate of General Nicolae Ciucă, as Chief of Defense, for another year.
Head of State rejected proposals of Defense Minister Gabriel Leş to appoint another Chief of Defense.
Main proposal of the Minister of National Defense was General Lieutenant Dumitru Scarlat, Romania's military representative to NATO and the EU.
