Almost 65,000 Romanian tourists will spend this year, on Easter holidays, about 6.1 million euro in the resorts of the country.
Estimation was made by the Romanian Tourism Employers Federation.
Rural boards are also this year the top favorites of Romanians and attract about 40,000 tourists.
Most requested destinations remain areas of tradition, such as Bran-Moeciu, Bucovina, Neamt, Vrancea, Sibiu, and, more recently, Oltenia under the mountain, where bookings topped over 80 per cent of accommodation capacity.
On the second place there are mountain resorts, preferences heading on the Prahova Valley, where the degree of occupancy rate reached 75 per cent.
Also, there has been a growing demand also for the other mountain resorts, where is recorded an occupancy of 65 per cent .
Easter will be celebrated also in hotels from major cities, where 3,000 places were prepared for tourists who choose to dine at the traditional restaurant.
Instead, the coastline is not a destination requested for spending Easter holidays. Although there are over 5,000 heated places in hotels, demand is low and only 500 seats have been reserved.
Much more requested are spa resorts, where 9,000 tourists have chosen to go on Easter.
Other 200 seats were booked in Danube Delta accommodation units.
About 7,300 Romanians will spend Easter Feast outside the country, and their expenses are estimated at 2,1 million Euros.
Most have chosen to go to Bulgaria and Greece.
The same source informs that number of tourists who are using local services increased by 10 per cent , after three years of consecutive declines.
Congestion on more national roads and the A1 highway
Romanians who are traveling to places where they will spend Easter holiday are advised by police agencies to avoid the heavy traffic areas and pay attention in traffic.
Cătălin Bocai, under-commissary at InfoTrafic Center, says that Friday evening was running with difficulty at the capital exit , on DN1, on the travel direction to resorts on Prahova Valley, due to large number of vehicles in motion.
Also, high values of heavy traffic were recorded on A1 Bucharest-Pitesti, DN 7 Arad - Vama Nădlac, DN 6 Bucharest-Alexandria and DN 5 Bucharest-Giurgiu.
“In these conditions, we recommend to the motorists to leave on the road on time, not to drive if they are tired or have consumed alcoholic drinks,” Cătălin Bocai said.
Capricious weather on Easter
National Meteorological Administration( ANM) issued a strong instability information for this weekend.
According to meteorologists, throughout the country, on Saturday from 9.00 a.m. until Sunday at 9.00 p.m. are expected, temporarily, downpours, lightnings, and increase short-terms wind intensification.
In the south of the country, but also in hill and mountain areas , water quantities exceed local 15, 20 litres per square metre and isolated, 30 litres.
Previously, Gabriela Băncilă from National Meteorological Administration announced that on Easter, the weather will be unstable.
“We will have rain again in all regions. In other words, we are counting on to milder temperature on Palm Sunday , when in areas of the north and centre of the country, in certain areas, maximum temperatures have not exceeded 4-6 degrees.”
On Sunday, apparently maximum temperatures will wrap around between 11-12 degrees and no more than 18 degrees,” Gabriela Băncilă said.
Meteorologists, however, draw attention that temperatures will continue to be low in the period ahead, and at night, temperatures will be up to 9 degrees below , values much lower than normal for mid- spring.
