Illicit fortunes might be confiscated if the new Constitution is adopted, reads today on the front page the Evenimentul zilei and explains: The phrase ‘property is presumed to be illicit’ is nowhere to be found in the draft to revise the Constitution and President Traian Băsescu declared that Romania had become unique in all Europe due to this provision.

According to the same draft, senators and deputies can be searched and detained without the Parliament’s notice as the immunity will only apply to their political activity.

The Superior Council of Magistrates has also suffered amendments: the number of magistrates inside the Council could be reduced in favour of the civil society’s representatives and the president could be chosen from the latter ones.

Also in the Evenimentul Zilei we read that the National Health Organization has placed the radiations coming from mobile phones in the ‘possibly carcinogenic’ category.

The coffee, the DTT and the Asian pickles fall into the same category. Violeta Calota, physician for the National Institute for Public Health states the data from the World Health Organization (WHO) do not necessarily constitute a reason to be worried.

‘The WHO shows it is possible that a risk exists, but extended research should be conducted for clearer conclusions. However, as a precaution, it would be good that the exposure to such radiations be limited, the specialist added’.

The Adevărul writes about the top hospitals in our country. The Minister of Health, Cseke Atilla, announced he finalized the hospital classification process, which were devided into five categories.

This is the first condition so that the funding is made from now on according to competence and performances, and not the way they used to negotiate your contract with the HeaLTH Assurance House, as it used to be done. This way, 28 hospitals belong to category 1, meaning they have a high competence level.

In the same newspaper we also read that Liviu Dragnea is blowing up the EU funds. The contracts signed by the President of the Teleorman County Council, the Social Democratic Party member Liviu Dragnea, with, and I quote, his house company, end of quote, could lead to loss of funding of 743 million euros from EU money.

An audit of the European Commission has revealed irregularitie which could lead to stopping the payments on ax 2 of the Operational Regional Program for Romania.

The România Liberă writes about the business with the fix radars. These machines have all chances to reappear on the roads and their number could raise to over 2,000, after the new methodology of installation and functioning is approved.

The acquisition and installation costs will be sustained by private companies also, as it used to be done a few years ago, when a great scandal broke out because of dubious contracts closed by some mayors and was finalized with the abolition of fixed radars.

The Jurnalul Naţional also writes in the sports page about the scandal in the Romanian football, caused by the relegation of vice-champion Poli Timişoara at the green table.

The meeting of the Executive Committee which will take place today at the headquarters of the Romanian Football Federation will might establish that this team moves forward, with the risk of sanctions from UEFA.

Although in principle the decision of the Licensing Committee inside the Romanian Football Federation is unassailable and binding, the President of the League, Dumitru Dragomir is planning a plot through which the Banat residents will be allowed to stay on the first stage, with the condition of the suspension from European competitions.
