Lucian Bute lost the world belt
Romanian Boxer Lucian Bute was defeated by the British Carl Froch by technical KO in the 5th round and lost the IBF World Champion belt in Super-Middleweight category.

In front of over 9,000 spectators, the Romanian Boxer Lucian Bute suffered his first defeat at professionals, in the match in which he put for the 10th time the world title.
Lucian Bute was defeated by the British Carl Froch by technical KO in the fifth round on Saturday night, in a professional gala disputed on Capital FM Arena in Nottingham.
The Romanian pugilist lost his IBF World Champion belt at super-middleweight.
Lucian Bute (32 years old) has 30 wins (24 by KO) and a failure, while Froch (34 years old), former WBC world champion at super middleweight, has 29 wins (20 by KO) and 2 losses.

Following the victory, Carl Froch came into possession of IBF champion belt at super-Middleweight category, owned by Bute since 2007.

The first half of the match scheduled for 12 rounds was one of contras, a slightly plus for Lucian Bute.
The second half was balanced and Carl Froch awarded the third clearly, on which the Romanian boxer ended it with difficulty.
The fourth round belonged also to Carl Froch, Bute ending in the ropes, the referee decided to end the fight in the fifth round, the Romanian being groggy.
However a revenge match between the two boxers will take place in Montreal.

“It's my first defeat, but it is not the end of the world. I need to rest for the time being, but I know that I have a strong character and I will return.”
“I lost several times in amateur and I always returned”, Bute said after the match.
The Romanian boxer admitted that he failed to cope with aggressive style in which Carl Froch fought, on whom he tried to surprise with his left upercut, but he failed.
“I wasted too much time trying to get in an exchange of blows with him. I thought being even in the ropes I will be able to go out, surprising him with my left.”
“I failed to do this, and the result was that he sent me more blows”, Lucian Bute said.

“The plan was, simply, listening to my coach Rob McCracken. I've listened to throughout the fight, as I listened to during the 12 weeks of training.”
“Perhaps there is the impression that it was an easy match, but it is not the case. When Bute hit me, he did it with power and so I realized how he managed to defeat a large number of boxers.”
“I knew that if I let him to hit me several times in a row, I will have problems,” said Carl Froch.
