President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, is in Sibiu to check on final preparations for the EU Summit that will take place on 9 May at the City Hall.

According to RRA Correspondent in Sibiu, Carmen Vulcan, President Iohannis has met Mayor of Sibiu, Astrid Fodor, who presented all that has been organized for this historic event under Romania’s EU Council Presidency.

EU Heads of state or government will gather in Sibiu on 9 May, Europe Day, to discuss 2019-2024 EU Strategic Agenda to be adopted at the European Council in June, following election of a new European Parliament and in preparation for the selection of new Commission and Council Presidents.

New EU Strategic Agenda is to be built on four pillars:

• Protecting citizens and freedoms;

• Developing an economic base: the European model for the future;

• Building a greener, fairer and more inclusive future;

• Promoting Europe's interests and values in the world.

“A more united Europe, much more citizen-oriented” is the message of President Iohannis at the EU Summit in Sibiu.
