Jens Stoltenberg sends greeting message to Romania

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has sent President Klaus Iohannis a congratulatory message for the 15th anniversary of Romania's accession to the North Atlantic Alliance.

Head of Alliance highlights Romania’s contributions to theaters of operations, saying that in Afghanistan he met some of the Romanian professional militaries who help stabilize the country and prevent sheltering of international terrorists.

Jens Stoltenberg also welcomes Romania's plans to spend 2% of the Gross Domestic Product for the Defense this year and to modernize its armed forces over the next 10 years.

At present, 887 Romanian soldiers are involved in NATO missions.
