Iohannis: The political crisis will not affect relations with EU and NATO

The political crisis in Romania will not affect the relationship with the European Union and NATO, nor the foreign policy orientation of our country, President Klaus Iohannis said today, during his visit to Germany.
Romania is a stable country, the President said in a joint press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The German Chancellor refused to comment on the political situation in Romania, but only emphasized the necessity to strengthen the rule of law and democracy.
In fact, Ms Merkel praised Romania's progress in fighting corruption and strengthening the rule of law, as well as President Iohannis' contribution to these areas, and said that diminishing this progress would not be a good thing.
