Iohannis on vote for Kövesi:"It is an important victory for Romania"

President Klaus Iohannis welcomed Thursday's vote in favor of Laura Codruţa Kövesi's candidacy for the position of Chief Prosecutor of the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO). He believes that the majority of votes Kövesi obtained confirms the appreciation for the preparation, experience and competence of the former Romanian DNA Chief.

RRA Reporter Mihaela Enache: "The result is an important victory for Romania", Head of State writes in a statement, adding: plus it was obtained despite the fact that the PSD Government has constantly tried to block the candidacy of a professional, recognized for her fight against corruption and to defense of the rule of law.

Positive reactions in reference to the vote in favor of Kövesi also came from the National Liberal Party (PNL) and of the USR PLUS Alliance (Save Romania Union – the Liberty, Unity, Solidarity Party).

"If Mrs Kövesi is considered fit by the European Parliament and the Council of the EU for the position of European Chief Prosecutor - as has happened - we support this decision", the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR) also states, as Rador announces.
