Romanian Government has sent to the Parliament the legislative proposal regarding election of mayors in two rounds. Liberal Government aims to pass this bill through collective responsibility.

According to Radio Romania News Reporter Petruţa Obrejan, the Executive motivates this measure because of a low democratic standard at the level of local communities. Election of the mayors in two rounds, says the Executive, will ensure a greater degree of legitimacy for those who are elected.
