Government introduces "energy reference price"

Government introduces "energy reference price"

Articol de Cătălin Purcaru, 30 August 2022, 19:11

The Social Democrats presented the news of the new emergency ordinance on measures in the field of energy, agreed with the coalition partners.

The document is to be adopted by the Executive in the next few days, so that it will take effect from the beginning of next month.

PSD vice-president, Mihai Tudose, explained today how the energy reference price will be calculated.

Mihai Tudose: The notion of a reference price appears, which is based on the purchase price, the recognition of some investments and a profit share. What exceeds this reference price, upon sale, will go into a solidarity fund, in an account opened at the Ministry of Finance, from where the compensation granted to the final consumer, i.e. individuals, legal entities, will be paid. An element of novelty, here, also appears contingent, if you like, to certain quantities. We encourage and compensate, but we must also have a reference point to previous consumption. Also, everything that means social area will be fully priced without any discussion.

Mihai Tudose assured that, for hospitals and homes for the elderly, whether public or private, the price of energy will be fully covered. Also, a deadline of maximum one month will be provided regarding the delivery of settlement documents. Otherwise, fines are provided. Last but not least, the obligation to ensure the necessary stocks of natural gas will be provided.
