During a phone conversation with Moldavian Prime Minister Vlad Filat, German Chancellor Angela Merkel reconfirmed Germany’s support for the Republic of Moldova.

Angela Merkel laid special emphasis on the support that her country is willing to further offer the Republic of Moldova for European integration and in view of solving the Transnistrian problem.

Angela Merkel congratulated Vlad Filat for having been appointed Prime Minister and the Moldavian Prime Minister appreciated the constant support Germany, which is ‘a sincere and trustful partner’, has offered the Republic of Moldova.

Vlad Filat invited Angela Merkel to visit Chișinău during this year, which she qualified as ‘a year of extreme importance for the Republic of Moldova’.

The Government of the Alliance for European Integration in Chişinău took office on January 15 and was congratulated by and received the support of EU leaders, USA and many other European states, including Romania.
