Former treasurer of ruling Social Democratic Party (PSD), Mircea Drăghici, was sued by Romanian National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) for embezzlement and use of subsidies for purposes other than those for which they were granted.

During February - June 2018, Mircea Drăghici used 380,000 euros from subsidy given to the party by the Permanent Electoral Authority, to buy a building for himself in Voluntari, Ilfov County, states a press release.

Subsidy payment of that amount would have been concealed by conclusion of a lease, which would have shown that the sum would have been paid by the party as a rent and not for the benefit of the person.

In the same capacity, Mircea Drăghici would have ordered removal from the party's patrimony of a luxury car with a value of over 320,000 lei, without payment of counter value.
