EU leaders in informal meeting at Brukenthal National Museum in Sibiu

Informal summit of EU leaders is currently taking place at the Brukenthal National Museum in Sibiu.

Heads of State and Government of EU Member States, less British Prime Minister Theresa May, were welcomed by President Klaus Iohannis and received with flags and cheers by the people gathered in the Great Square in Sibiu.

After the group photography on a podium covered with a giant carpet similar to the European Union flag, Brussels officials and EU leaders headed to the crowd that cheered "Europe!"

Special aerial security measures have been taken for the smooth running of the EU Summit in Sibiu, with aircraft of the Romanian Ministries of Defense and Domestic Affairs, and a drone placed on top of the central area where the EU officials are, for surveillance.

City of Sibiu is today like a fortress in its central area where many police forces have been deployed. Video monitoring system has specifically been purchased for this historic event.
