Dan Barna - confident that Rosia Montana will become a UNESCO monument

Deputy Prime Minister Dan Barna, co-chair of USR PLUS, declared that he was confident that Rosia Montana will become a UNESCO-protected monument. He said the issue would be addressed at the coalition meeting that took place this afternoon.

Dan Barna: Romania has a file submitted to UNESCO. From the positions I have seen lately, no request to withdraw this proposal were made by any of the partners. So, I am very confident that, at the end of this summer, Rosia Montana will become a UNESCO protected monument. I repeat, there was no request for delisting from any communicator or leader of the coalition partners.

Last week, Prime Minister Florin Citu stated that a decision on how to manage the registration file of the Rosia Montana site, in the UNESCO world heritage, must be taken at the level of the coalition.

The prime minister also said that he did not take any official steps to withdraw the file.
