Bus falls into the Dâmboviţa river in Bucharest

A public transport bus fell into the Dâmboviţa river in Bucharest, on Saturday morning, following collision with another vehicle.

A public transport bus fell into the Dâmboviţa river in Bucharest, on Saturday morning, following collision with another vehicle.

Accident was caused by a passenger car which drove on red light and crashed into the left side of the bus. Bus driver tried to avoid collision and crashed into the fence of the bridge over the river. Fence broke and bus plunged into the river.

Otokar bus belongs to the Bucharest Transport Company.

Spokesperson of Inspectorate for Emergency Situations Bucharest - Ilfov, Daniel Vasile: There were two people on the bus, the driver and a passenger, and in the Opel that caused the crash there were two people: the driver, a man, and a woman-passenger. As a result of the impact, the bus left the driveway and partially sank in the Dâmbovița river. The passenger woman in the car was transported for further investigations to the University Hospital.
