Bucharest: Conference on Eastern European security and defense strategy
Romania will further its commitments as a member of the North Atlantic Alliance, said the Romanian representatives at the event.

"Threats for East European Security: Romania's Defense Strategy" are the themes of a conference organized today at the Parliament Palace in Bucharest by Defense Committee of Romanian Chamber of Deputies, together with “George Marshall” European Center for Security Studies and “George Marshall” Association.
At the opening of the event, representatives of the US and German Embassies in Bucharest highlighted the importance of Marshall Center studies as well as Romania's contribution to NATO.
RRA Reporter Iulia Gherman: From the moment of joining NATO, Romania has demonstrated a firm commitment in its relationship with the North Atlantic Alliance, representative of the US Embassy in Bucharest, Abigail Rupp, said. US diplomat underlined that Romania's decision to allocate 2% of GDP for defense is an agreement with NATO to ensure a greater degree of security both on the eastern flank of Europe and for the Alliance as a whole.
Abigail Rupp: Romania's leadership continues to modernize Romanian security forces and also to increase the degree of interoperability and availability, the ability of our armed forces to cope with any threats. Romania's leadership contributed to some of the major multinational cooperation projects, ensuring security of Romania and Europe.
RRA Reporter: Maintaining a network of defense professionals is an essential part of the mandate of the “George Marshall” European Center and currently there are over 13,000 such specialists, representative of the German Embassy in Bucharest, Kai Hennig, said.
Kai Hennig:Romania has the highest number of graduates compared to the other countries that have been selected to participate in the prestigious “George Marshall” program. There are 25 associations of graduates /.../ from Europe and Eurasia. Professional value of these graduates has been noticed every time. “George Marshall” Center is the best place to launch our strategic dialogue and deepen our Euro-Atlantic partnerships.
