Beware of holiday thieves. Advice from law enforcement officers

Articol de Gabriel Sava, 26 Decembrie 2022, 04:47

Beware of thieves during this period, when many Romanians spend their holidays away from home, and the criminals have different methods of finding out who, where and for how long is away from home.

What advice the specialists offer, we learn from the RRA correspondent in Vrancea County, Gabriel Sava:

Reporter: The holiday season, when many families leave home for a longer period of time, is preferred by home and car thieves.

Pickpocketers also take advantage of the congestion created at stores, at various events or in means of transport. In order to prevent unpleasant situations, the Vrancea police officers come up with some useful tips.

Paula Enache, spokesperson of the Vrancea County Police Inspectorate: The Vrancea police recommend that you take great care of your belongings when you are in crowded places, at the market, in shops, on public transport. Make sure you lock your home when you leave. Do not allow strangers into your home, regardless of the pretext used. If they present themselves as representatives of institutions, companies, ask them for an identification document. Don't be fooled by bargain sellers. Most of the time, the products are either counterfeit or come from the commission of crimes. Do not ostentatiously display valuables when in public places. Do not leave your children unattended and do not allow them to carry the house key in plain sight.

Specific to the holiday season is the use of firecrackers and fireworks, even those that should only be used by professionals. Increased attention in the use of these pyrotechnic elements and the avoidance of use by children is also related to everyone's safety.
