Romania will contribute, alongside its NATO partners, with additional military forces in Afghanistan. Bucharest supports NATO’s mission multi-annual plan in Afghanistan, which targests taking over of the authority in the region by the Afghan forces, by 2020.

Radio Romania News Special Envoy in Afghanistan, Ilie Pintea - referring to the missions of the Romanian battalion currently deployed in Afghanistan and to the work of the Romanian Train Advise Assist teams - reports that the new US strategy aims to increase with 3000 soldiers the deployed personnel in the theater of operations. Next year, allied partners will bring both increased number of staff and additional fighting techniques.

Romania too joins this effort and will send more troops in the area. Train Advise Assist Command-South, Kandahar, Col.
