Authorities recently announced 6,174 new coronavirus cases from more than 37,000 tests processed within 24 hours.
Most new cases were registered in Bucharest - 1,005; 90 deaths were also reported, and 1,286 patients are admitted to intensive care.
Eight counties and the capital are in the red scenario following the increase in the incidence of coronavirus cases per thousand inhabitants.
