The capital of Romania celebrates 561 years of documentary attestation

alex-buzica

Today, the Romanian capital celebrates 561 years of documentary attestation, but this year the events dedicated to the Days of Bucharest will take place in a special context, caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Several events have been organized. Numerous exhibitions were visited free of charge, meanwhile seven tram sets on lines 1, 10, 21, 25, 27, 40 and 41, personalized with graffiti, made by some of the best street art artists in Bucharest, offered an exhibition of moving urban art. Also today, there was a parade of vintage trams. Details we find out from a report made by Alex Buzica.

Reporter: The Bucharest Transport Company, STB, organized today the parade of vintage trams. The vehicles crossed the center of the capital, driving on the route Depoul Piata Victoriei to Sfantul Gheorghe Square and back. However, in order to comply with the measures to prevent SARS-CoV-2 virus infection, the trams ran without passengers. They parked at the Sfantul Gheorghe Square terminal, where history and tradition enthusiasts could admire and photograph vintage vehicles. The convoy also included the V 056 tram, manufactured in 1956 through modernizing the Thompson tram. Also today, the people of Bucharest could see a special wagon-restaurant tram, within the STB repair plant.

Host: From 20:00, the online retrospective of the Bucharest International iMapp Festival took place in the University Square. There were also video projections on the facades of the National Theater, the Intercontinental Hotel and the University. The screenings had no sound, and the artistic content was short.
