Romania "does not have to allow import of waste anymore"
The Environment Minister said that he works on a draft law prohibiting the transfer of waste to Romania.

The Ministry of Environment works on a legislative regulation on imports and shipments of waste in Romania.
Minister Rovana Plumb said at a conference on the future of environment that Romania does not have to allow the importation of waste anymore.
"This legislation is one of the priority projects of the ministry", said the Environment Minister, Rovana Plumb, "so that Romania is no longer the dump of Europe."
At this time, our country annually produces five million tons of garbage, quantity that must reach a half by 2020.
On the other hand, Cement Industry Employers' Association president, Mihai Rohan, said that a solution to reduce the amount of household waste would be their processing within the cement factories.
In order the waste to be processed within the cement factories, they should be selectively collected, then ground and placed in high temperature furnaces.
The resulting ash is not harmful nor to human health, neither to the environment, it is called clinker and can be used in the preparation of cement.
This solution is one that partially solves the problem of waste, because hospital waste, wood and textiles cannot be processed.
