Romania attends, during 20-27 October, the Invictus Games 2018 Sydney, Australia - an international adaptive multi-sport event created by Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, in which wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women, both serving and veteran, take part in sports that include wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball and indoor rowing.

It is the second time that Romania enters this competition where 500 athletes from 18 countries compete in 11 medal sports. Romanian delegation is made up of 15 members, who will compete in archery, cycling, athletics, indoor rowing, swimming, sitting volleyball and long jumping.

This year, Invictus Games have reached the 4th edition. Competing nations: Afghanistan, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, France, Georgia, Germany, Iraq, Italy, Jordan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Romania, Ukraine, United Kingdom and USA.

Prince Harry - younger son of Princess Diana and Prince Charles - who served in the Army for ten years, rising to the rank of Captain and undertaking two tours of Afghanistan, founded the Invictus Games in 2014, after visiting the Warrior Games in the USA in 2013 and witnessing the positive impact sport had for injured servicemen and women.

"Invictus" is Latin for “unconquered” and embodies the fighting spirit of the wounded, injured and ill servicemen and women who have been tested and challenged, but have not been defeated.
