R. Arafat: The humanitarian hub in Suceava is operational

"The role that civil society has played in the refugee crisis has been extraordinarily important; we will continue to strengthen cooperation with this segment and of course with public authorities and anyone who wants to work nationally and internationally", said the head of the Department for Emergency Situations, Raed Arafat.

A discussion between Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca and representatives of state authorities, civil society and international organizations involved in managing the flow of refugees generated by Russian military aggression in Ukraine took place at Victoria Palace today in hybrid format.

A quick response to the intervention requires collaboration and coordination between authorities and non-governmental organizations, and the creation of the dopomoha.ro platform and the operationalization of numbers 112 and 119 in Ukrainian are just a few examples of good practice, said State Councilor Madalina Turza.

The head of the Department for Emergency Situations, Raed Arafat, said that the humanitarian hub in Suceava is operational.

Raed Arafat: Materials have already been transported from Italy, Slovenia, Bulgaria, as well as goods that are being prepared right inside Romania, in an organized way, and all this, in collaboration with the Ukrainian authorities, is transferred by trucks from Ukraine that come, refuel with all the respective materials and leave for Ukraine.

The director of the Romanian Red Cross, Ioan Lefter, said that humanitarian aid to Ukraine is passing through the Siret-Chernivtsi corridor and so far 44 trucks have entered, 14 from Romania, the others coming from Turkey, Bulgaria, Italy, Greece and China, and there are signals that other countries will also contribute.
