About 70 to 100 Russian Navy ships are permanently stationed in different regions of the world’s oceans, Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief, Admiral Vladimir Korolyov said in an interview published on Friday in the Krasnaya Zvezda daily, taken over by Xinhua.

"A fleet can be real if its ships and submarines do not remain at berth, but go out on the sea and do their duty" Admiral Korolyov said.

He specified that the a new frigate, "Amiral Makarov", will arrive in the Sevastopol port and will be part of the Black Sea Fleet starting from August or September.

Also, the anti-mine ship "Ivan Antonov" was recently launched in the St. Petersburg port and a series of six small torpedo carriers, "Shkval", joined the Baltic Sea Fleet.

In the near future, ships of a brand new class, namely patrol boats of class 22160 "Vasily Bykov" will be placed in the equipment of the Russian Navy, said the Commander-in-Chief.

Present Russian Navy, formed in 1992, currently includes the Northern Fleet, the Pacific Fleet, the Black Sea Fleet, the Baltic Sea Fleet, the Caspian Sea Fleet, Naval Aviation and the Coastal Troops, according to Xinhua.
