Family Referendum in Romania: turnout below minimum threshold
Over 90 percent of those who took part in the referendum supported defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman.

Romania’s referendum on family redefinition in the Constitution, that took place on 6-7 October, has failed to attract 30% voter participation, as needed for validation.
Referendum aimed to change Article 48 of the Constitution stating that “family is founded on a freely consented marriage between spouses” into “family is founded on a freely consented marriage between a man and a woman”.
Over 90 percent of those who took part in the referendum supported defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman.
