The conductor Cristian Macelaru, nominated for taking over the artistic direction of the George Enescu International Festival, declared that this event must continue to have the current global impact, Agerpres reports.

"For me, the Enescu Festival remains and will continue to remain this living flame that brings honor to the name Enescu, and at the same time proves something that is so difficult to understand in the whole world: the fact that in our country, in Romania, we would expect to try and do something that would not have such an obvious global impact, but we have managed so far to create this cultural event that is unique, global and has such a beautiful impact around the world. That's why the number one importance for me is for this festival to continue to have the same global impact", said the conductor.

Cristian Macelaru confessed that the Enescu Festival has a sentimental value and wants to be sure that it will continue.

The organizers of the George Enescu International Festival and Contest marked on Tuesday, October 12, through a special event, the successful organization of the 2020/2021 editions and the end of term of the executive director, who relaunched and developed them after the fall of communism, Mihai Constantinescu.

Among the guests of the event, moderated by Oana Marinescu, director of Oma Vision, were: Mihai Constantinescu, philosopher and essayist Andrei Plesu, Minister of Culture during the takeover by Mihai Constantinescu of the mission of organizing the Enescu Festival, violinist Valentin Serban, winner of the Violin Section at the Enescu 2020/2021 Competition, conductor Gabriel Bebeselea, who directed the Romanian premiere of 'Strigoii' at the Enescu 2021 Festival, filmmaker Denisa Morariu Tamas, who has been watching the Enescu Festival and Competition for years, on behalf of the Paradigma Film team, historian Eugen Ciurtin, a good connoisseur of the Enescu universe and a music lover, and Steven van Groningen, CEO of Raiffeisen Bank.

At the end of the evening, an emotional moment was the presentation of a short documentary dedicated to Mihai Constantinescu, in which prestigious artists who performed on the stages of the 2021 edition of the Enescu Festival praised the personality of the executive director of the event.
