A new way of reporting COVID-19 cases

Articol de Radiojurnal, 26 Februarie 2021, 03:38

The head of the Department for Emergency Situations, Raed Arafat, announced that starting Thursday there is a new way to report cases of SARS-COV-2 infection, which, in his opinion, will not have a big impact on official figures.

Raed Arafat: The cases you have in a town or in a county are included in the calculation of the incidence for the last 14 days. The impact depends on the locality, but it will not be a big one. In Bucharest, for example, there will be an increase of 0.02%, if there are no other cases, so increases that are not due to outbreaks. It was considered that this would be a correct solution to include everything and not to separate the outbreaks from the other cases.

Host: In his turn, Prime Minister Florin Citu drew attention to the fact that the health protection rules must continue to be observed by the citizens, as Romania has not reached the moment of a relaxation regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.

Florin Citu: I saw that people started to relax a little. This is not the time, we have not yet reached the time to relax. What we have done so far we can easily lose if we do not keep these restrictions, if we want to keep the restaurants open, if we want to keep the schools open, we have to follow the rules.
